Abstract. 2023 has been declared the Year of Teachers and Mentors in Russia and according to the authors’ assumptions this is not due to fashionable trends, but specifically due to the topic of teacher’s role formation, which is not only relevant, but topical and necessary in modern
Russian society. The relevance of this topic is also determined by the fact that the interest of young people in this profession is decreasing and the prestige and image of the teacher is declining. The education system itself is also changing, and therefore, the problems raised in the
article are relevant and significant. The paper analyzes the formation features of the teacher's image in modern culture. In the research process there were identified the indicators, which form the basis of the teacher's image characteristics. Approaches to the definition of the concept
of "image of the teacher" are considered. The survey conducted among students and school-children in the practical part of the study proves the need for this area of research and helps to identify such image characteristics that form the basis of the teacher’s image in modern society.
